http://www.missioncouncil.se
About the SMC
The Swedish Misson Council, SMC,
was founded in 1912 with the purpose of being a forum for reflection
concerning the responsibility of the Churches and the Christian
agencies with regard to international solidarity.
Since 1980 the SMC has an agreement with Sida, the Swedish International
Development Agency, that makes it possible for the SMC members to
apply for funds.
The relationships between TAABCO and
the Swedish Mission Council continued and additional two activities
were undertaken. One was organizational study of Swedish Mission
Council (SMC) where both TAABCO and INTRAC undertook this venture.
The purpose of the study was
to enable Swedish Mission Council
(SMC) to clarify its identity vision, mission, goals and core values.
The second activity was the process facilitation of the partnership
consultation between Swedish Churches and their partners in Tanzania
and Kenya. The partnership consultation year 2000 was the third
in three years, following a study on the roles of projects as an
instrument of Development that was conducted by CORAT and TAABCO.
TAABCO did the Swedish evaluation and together with INTRAC carried
out an organisational study of SMC in Sweden. CORAT did the evaluation
in Africa.

The Swedish Pentecostal Church
Relief and Development Department is engaged with TAABCO in the
development and understanding of partnerships. The Swedish Church
is taking partnerships seriously, particularly for agreements within
its constituency. TAABCO is working with the group to define relationships,
principles, values, and areas of cooperation. PMU-Interlife is the
development arm of the Swedish Pentecostal Churches. As far as relationships
with PMU are concerned, TAABCO has been a partner since 1998.
However, TAABCO provided both
processes of consultancy services and workshop presentations on
planning. Partnership workshops aimed at establishing values, principles
and programmes between PMU, The Swedish Pentecostal Churches and
their partners in the South were held in South Africa-for Southern
African partners, Sudan, Rwanda for Democratic republic of Congo,
Rwanda, Burundi and Kenya. The process is still on going and has
achieved much for the overall organizational development.
